Orrin was his own rebellious self and got off the path at the hot springs to walk down to feel how hot the water really was. This is so like him. Mom and Sami were humiliated to be with him so they kept walking. They overheard some guy say "There always has to be at least one idiot!" Thats my husband, the idiot!
On our way back to the cabin we stopped at a Mountain Man Rendezvous where Orrin checked out all the fur!
On Sunday we went to Sacrament Meeting (it was packed!!!) and took the drive to Mammoth Springs. We had a lovely lunch. My mom tracked down a recipe for Mrs. Powells Turkey sandwiches! They were SO yummy.
After lunch we kept driving through the park and stopped at Yellowstone's grand canyon. It was SO pretty. We took pictures from the top and looked at the pretty waterfall and then decided to walk down the path to the top of the waterfall.
It was pretty steep walk down so we just kind of feel down and made it real quick. The view was gorgeous as you can see! I was loving it all until we had to walk back up! I don't know how Jeremy and Leslie did it with the kids. I made orrin pull me up part of the way. I'm so out of shape!
The next day was our sleep in day. It was also the first day that the sun was out and it was warm enough to leave the house without long sleeves. We drove up to Johnny Sacks cabin and fed the fish and then we floated down the river at Macks Inn.
Floating down the river is one of my favorite parts of this vacation!
The water was far too cold to get in! But we all did get some sun! it was so nice and relaxing. When I was little I remember doing this raft trip and I was in the same raft as my mom. I was probably close to 5. I was looking in the water and I slipped and my head went under the water. My mom pulled me out and I remember seeing everyone else in the raft laughing at me. I was so embarrassed and then I remember falling asleep in my moms lap. Good times.
On the drive home we took the long way through the Park and Jackson Hole. It took about 9 hours! It was a pretty drive, what I saw anyways.. I took so many naps! Orrins kinda mad about that. I'm "not a very good travel buddy." oops. This picture is of us in front of the Teton Mountains. They were huge. Next trip orrin wants to go camping there. I'm all for it!
